Thinking about making this into a 2 colour risograph if I get the time.

not only is this drawing awesome, but your comment led me to read about risographs, which I did not know about before. Interesting stuff.

It's great for people experimenting with a silk screen based style.
It's like coloured layers of photocopies. Strange stuff, but very fun.

If you work with opacities on layers through photoshop, it will convert the shades into different levels of half tone. Very cool.

wow, that sounds awesome. Do you purchase your own machine, or do you go somewhere and get someone to print them for you?

I get them made up at a riso printers, they mail them to me, so that's really cool.
My friend acutally bought a machine recently, and is working out the kinks.
You live in japan don't you? It's a Japanese machine, made by the company that created Gocco printing I think.

Gocco itself might be worth checking out.

Have you ever given Woodcut or lino a go? Because your work is very high contrast with black and whites, it would look amazing.

Yeah, I do live in Japan. I looked up the whole riso printer thing and saw that they originate in Japan. I am finding out little by little that various cool things in life come from here, like copic markers and donkey kong.

I will definitely check it out and see if there are any printing services around here that are interesting. Thanks!

Exciting stuff!

I do want to get into woodcut prints someday, definitely. Actually, I am immensely inspired by woodcut printing. I just don't have the time right now (job, 4 yr. old son, etc.), so I basically use a really thin technical pen to mimic a woodblock print kind of effect. Drawing with pens is cool because you can always add a few lines here and there throughout the day, no matter how busy you are. But yeah, when I draw I kind of feel like I am modeling or sculpting lines into a block of wood. It's insane.

So I'm really glad anytime someone mentions woodcut printing to me!! Thanks!!

I checked out your publisher. Exciting! Those comics look really, really cool. (did I already mention that?)

haha, yeh cool! Glad you like the comics!

There's acutally a shortcut to linocut. I think it was developed for schools so that kids don't cut themselves with lino cutters.
Great thing is, that means it's a very short process for artists as well.
I've got a few sheets of it.
You literally drawn onto the stuff with pencil to make an impression, instead of having to cut into things.
Still requires block ink and a roller and paper though, but it's a lot less messy!
